All breeding is done via in-hand live cover on the farm. Registered mares are $600; unregistered $300. Mare care (wet & dry) is $10/day. All outside horses brought to the farm are kept in a stall and private lot. The mare owner must present current shot record & coggins to the farm. If the mare has not had a foal in the last three years, a culture is required - the same is required for maiden mares. Mare care payment is due when the mare is picked up; breeding fees are due after the vet has checked the mare and confirmed her in foal. Vet reports proving the mare is in foal are required.
See more pictures of Jay here.
Jay is a triple registered stallion - AQHA, PHBA, NFQHA (National Foundtaion Quarter Horse Association).
Jay, being a foundation bred quarter horse, offers versatility, good bone, and a great temperament. He stands at 15.1h and is as wide as he is tall. His foals have shown a propensity for western pleasure and hunter, as well as trails, patterns, and reining. Cow work is not out of the question. Most of his foals have sold locally to youth and have made great family horses.
With limited showing as a young horse, Jay did acquire Horsemanship & Hunter Under Saddle points. He was used mainly for stud service, and was relocated to Virginia from New York before he was purchased by Mica Springs.
